Rules

  • 1.     Use of the field for the purpose of off-leash companion greyhound exercise is only permitted from 7am to 10am on Sundays and Wednesdays, as permitted by Sutherland Shire Council (SSC)

  • 2.     All members must sign in when arriving for each visit of the field using the QR Code. If you don’t own a device capable of scanning a QR code, any other visitor can scan and enter your details on your behalf. All companion greyhound names must be entered.

  • 3.     All greyhounds must wear a muzzle when within the confines of the enclosed field, regardless of Greenhound status. This is non-negotiable. Exceptions will not be made for those that forget to bring a muzzle. If you forget your muzzle, it is recommended that you borrow one from another owner who does not currently have their companion greyhound off-leash, alternatively there are some spare muzzles available in the equipment storage box.

  • 4.     All perimeter gates must be closed when a companion greyhound is off-leash within the enclosed area, except in brief circumstances when people are entering/exiting the field

  • 5.     For safety, companion greyhounds are allowed to be off leash in small numbers at any one time.  Companion greyhounds waiting a turn to run off-leash must be kept on lead. Off-leash numbers are at the discretion of a GUI Committee Member, or designated coordinator

  • 6.     Under no conditions will another breed of dog be allowed on the field during the allocated time periods, due to GUI’s access agreement with SSC

  • 7.     All members must clean up their companion greyhound’s waste.  All waste bags are to be placed in the bins provided by SSC.  If you see other rubbish, please safely pick it up and place in a Council bin.  If you are not able to pick up the waste, please consider breaking it down with water

  • 8.     Please note that GUI’s public liability insurance does not cover any injury to any companion greyhound. Members run their companion greyhound/s off-leash at their own risk

  • 9.     GUI will record the attendance of you and your companion greyhound/s, which is a requirement of SSC. GUI will also utilise attendance data for the purpose of determining the success of the venture and building a case to open more off-leash areas for companion greyhounds in other municipalities. See our privacy policy at: https://greyhoundsunleashe.wixsite.com/guinc/rules

  • 10. Any damages to the field are to be reported as soon as possible to a GUI committee member, or to greyhoundsunleashedinc@gmail.com

I certify that it is solely my responsibility to manage my safety and the safety of any dogs or greyhounds under my control, not the responsibility of GUI.
I acknowledge that this Accident Waiver and Release of Liability Form will be used by the event holders, sponsors, and organisers of GUI as stated above, and that it will govern my actions and responsibilities at off-leash events.
In consideration of my application and permitting me to participate in off-leash events, I hereby take action for myself, my executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors, pets and assigns as follows:

(A) I WAIVE, RELEASE, AND DISCHARGE from any and all liability, including but not limited to, liability arising from the negligence or fault of the entities or persons released, for my death, disability, personal injury, property damage, injury to pets, death of pets, property theft, or actions of any kind which may hereafter occur to me including my traveling to and from off-leash events,

(B) I INDEMNIFY, HOLD HARMLESS, AND WILL NOT TO SUE GUI and/or persons organising off-leash events and waive them from any and all liabilities or claims made as a result of participation in off-leash events, whether caused by the negligence of release or otherwise. This includes, but is not liminted to, participation of any hazardous activities, injuries resulting from dog bites or dog attacks, injuries to dogs, and damage to property. I indemnify GUI against any damage suffered by myself, my child/children/dependents, next of kin and pets or animals under my control.
I acknowledge that off-leash events may test a person’s physical and mental limits and may carry with it the potential for death, serious injury, and property loss. The risks may include, but are not limited to, those caused by terrain, facilities, temperature, weather, condition of participants, equipment, vehicular traffic, actions of pets and dogs, actions of other people including, but not limited to, participants, volunteers, spectators, event officials, and event monitors, and/or producers of off-leash events, and lack of hydration. These risks are not only inherent to participants, but are also present for volunteers and pets.

I agree to ensure that any dog under my control, or accompanying me to an off-leash event is wearing a muzzle, at all times, when inside the enclosed area permitted by Sutherland Shire Council for off-leash use.

I understand that at off-leash events or related activities, I may be photographed. I agree to allow my photo, video, or film likeness to be used for any legitimate purpose by the event holders, producers, sponsors, organisers, and assigns.

The accident waiver and release of liability shall be construed broadly to provide a release and waiver to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law.
